The bad news is expect more unoriginal content.

The international box office — which is up more than 3 percent year-to-date — helped save a number of summer event films that underperformed in the U.S. Pirates 5 has grossed $618 million overseas for a global total of $790 million, while Transformers 5 stands at $604 million globally after earning $474 million offshore. And The Mummy scared up $328 million abroad for a worldwide cume of $407.8 million.

Ended up only seeing one summer movie: Dunkirk.

Summer Box Office Suffers Historic Decline in U.S

Good. Anything that takes the money away from Liberals in Hollywood is good for the nation.

The Hollywood “business” is nothing more than pedophile enabling perverts.

Awwwwwwwww. But, clooney and his moose limb wife can still pony up a million to fight hate to the splc so not everyone is hurting from the decline in box office receipts.

America no longer wants what Hollywood offers—on-screen and off (i.e., its political activism)!!!!

Hollywood creative types need to spend more time in America’s Red Counties, and base their storylines on what they learn there!!!!

We joined Amazon Prime over a year ago and just a few months ago discoverd it was built into our new TV - and our internet service became cheaper and no longer throttled us.

The selection is incredible, and I’m talking free stuff. If we really want to watch a new movie we can also just rent it for a few bucks. We have several hundred DVD’s and Blue Rays (since we have not had television since 1997). We rarely watch any of them any more.

With modern television quality and home theater quality, other than for 3D IMAX, why would anyone go to a theater to watch a movie? I don’t get it.

I believe there were only two really bona fide box office hits in the USA for 2017: Disney's live-action version of Beauty and the Beast (which made over $500 million in the USA) and Wonder Woman (which made over $400 million in the USA).

I’ve seen most of the movies mentioned. At home on On Demand. The theater experience sucks.

Seems like all they are making is sequels, superhero flicks and romantic comedies. I’m going to be riding to florida next week and I was looking for some fairly recent movies to download on my Ipad and watch in the car. There wasn’t a single thing that appealed to me. I ended up just downloading some old movies and videos from Netflix and Youtube.

I keep going to the movies hoping to see something good. Disappointed every time

I have not seen one good movie in years. Since I cannot remember

The scripts are terrible

Plots are awful. Senseless

They put out a crappy product with a PC-LGBT-left wing agenda. Don’t need the 30 minutes of ear-shattering previews either.

Movies are going by the wayside. They will all become...”Made for TV” shows.

Why pay $15/ticket and another $15 for a small bag of popcorn and a watered-down soft drink to see a CGI-loaded movie of which you forget the plot by the time you get back to your car?!?

In a year or so it’ll be in the $5 DVD bin at Walmart.

People will not pay to see bad, politically correct, navel gazing movies. Yet there is always a market for dopey action fantasy movies with lots of special effects especially in Asia.

I bet they used actual data for Gore’s movie. If they were to feed the adjusted figures into “box office revenue models”, they’d realize that this summer was actually the best box office in history. And that’s just by “correcting” Gore’s box office results. If they did the same for all movies they probably took in more money than all the wealth on the planet. This summer was a huge success according to the models so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. /sarc

Hollywood has devolved into making animated comic book movies. Executives are realizing that illiterate, uneducated people around the world will pay to see mindless , special effects laden action movies. They won’t pay to see politically correct, navel gazers with dopey plots.

Saw a few $7 matinees. Three, that’s it. Wonder Woman, Spiderman, and Planet of the Apes. If I saw another one, I’ve forgotten about it.

Good! Hollywood can destroy itself with its own internal moral rot and decay. Good riddance!
