Whats curious about this...is that a Army-mother is typically given about sixty days max after giving birth, and is generally expected to then be deployable.

The problem I see with the 238 day thing is that the guy is paid for this entire period as if he were capable of being deployed. If some idiot were to approach the NBA or NFL and say he was going transgender and would be missing the bulk of next season...the team would just let the guy go and refuse to pay his contract.

I agree. The military should not be obligated to perform elective surgery because someone wants to “change” something. People in the military who want to have this kind of surgery which would make them not deployable should be medically or psychologically discharged.

I think what’s needed is for some NBA or NFL superstar to announce that he is taking a year off to pursue “gender transition” and expects the team to keep paying his/her $25+ million salary in the year away. Oh, and when S/he comes back on female hormones sans penis and with much less testosterone, well ok she may not play as well as before, but that’s just the price the team and fans must PAY for “gender transexual equality” !!!!
