The relationship between President Trump and Senator Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, has disintegrated to the point that they have not spoken to each other in weeks, and Mr. McConnell has privately expressed uncertainty that Mr. Trump will be able to salvage his administration after a series of summer crises.
What was once an uneasy governing alliance has curdled into a feud of mutual resentment and sometimes outright hostility, complicated by the position of Mr. McConnells wife, Elaine L. Chao, in Mr. Trumps cabinet, according to more than a dozen people briefed on their imperiled partnership. Angry phone calls and private badmouthing have devolved into open conflict, with the president threatening to oppose Republican senators who cross him, and Mr. McConnell mobilizing to their defense.
In a series of tweets this month, Mr. Trump criticized Mr. McConnell publicly, then berated him in a phone call that quickly devolved into a profane shouting match.
During the call, which Mr. Trump initiated on Aug. 9 from his New Jersey golf club, the president accused Mr. McConnell of bungling the health care issue. He was even more animated about what he intimated was the Senate leaders refusal to protect him from investigations of Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to Republicans briefed on the conversation.

More NY Times “news”, eh?
If Trump can’t save presidency, then Republicans won’t be able to save party.
Even if they were to force Trump out tomorrow, to think that they would be able to carry on like they did before would be living in a fantasy land.
The ny slimes at its best. Using a washed-up failure ( McConnell’ approval rate today has sunk to just 18 percent in his home state). To try to discredit or run down President Trump. Ha ha. Dear nyt: be sure to dredge up the bushes and Romney, too oh yes, Kasick too!
“If Trump cant save presidency, then Republicans wont be able to save party.”
I agree with that. The party of Ryan and McConnell are done.
Did’t McConnell have doubts about Trump winning the election?
McConnell views Trump as a disruption.
McConnell needs to resign immediately.
7 1/2 years of promising obamacare repeal, and he didn’t get it done. It was an embarrassment of the highest order. Now he has the gall to insult to stab the president in the back, too.
The leader’s job is to rally the party behind key legislation, he failed, he needs to do the honorable thing and resign the leadership.. and also retire from Congress so that the people of Kentucky can have a Senator that does not lie to them.
Another leaked phone call? Hmm who has the ability to do that? Mitch is at 18% so here is the NYT running a rescue mission.
Utter his own future demise,
WOW!
"More than a dozen" made up people.
The Turdle doubted Trump could win the Presidency too.
It’s beginning to like McConnell is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
“Doubts he can save presidency”, or “Hopes he can’t save presidency”?
I’m guessing the latter.
If jack holes like Mitch are in charge he won’t. Mitch is itching to have impeachment proceedings
So a guy with an 18% approval rate in his home state is now an expert on political survival.
McConnell, in Private, Doubts if Trump Can Save Presidency
________________________________________________________
I publicly doubt whether McConnell serves the general welfare of the American People.
Sen. Yertle is a dirtbag RINO a-hole. Trump appoints Yertle’s wife Transportation secretary, and in return, Yertle ***** Trump in the ***.
While it's essential that, unlike the Left, we must maintain full awareness of what our domestic enemies are up to ... what they're thinking ... I always check the source when I've accessed a thread so I'm prepared for what's coming in the article. On exceedingly rare occasions I'm surprised ... but so rarely that it's difficult to even mention.
