Norway’s PM criticized for comparing neo-Nazis to far left

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg has come in for sharp criticism after being quoted as saying the Nazis and the extreme left had “much in common”.

The comments by Solberg were published by the Dagbladet newspaper on August 11th in response to a neo-Nazi demonstration in Kristiansand — not to last weekend’s events in Charlottesville, USA in which a woman was killed by a far right demonstrator.

US President Donald Trump was widely criticized by both Democrats and members of the Republican party for seeking to draw a parallel between Nazi demonstrators in Charlottesville and left wing counter protesters including the Antifa group.

Taken in the overall context of the Dagbladet article, Solberg’s comments are intended to support her position that the government would fight all kinds of extremism.

“Right wing extremists and neo-Nazis have a lot in common with the extreme left or religious extremism. They seek to whip up hate, division and conflict within Norwegian society,” Solberg wrote.

The comments have been strongly criticized by some of Norway’s left-wing politicians. Snorre Valen of the Socialist Left Party (Sosialistisk Venstreparti) called Solberg’s comments “completely irresponsible and amateur” in a post on Twitter. …

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg has come in for sharp criticism after being quoted as saying the Nazis and the extreme left had “much in common”.

How dare she point out reality when Western liberals and their lapdogs in the media are so busy trying to pretend that violent left-wing radicals are somehow better than violent right-wing radicals?

Since Norway was invaded by nazis you would expect they’d know that nazis where socialists.

IIRC, the “far right” sobriquet with respect to national socialists originated with Stalin. Probably has to do with its rejection of state atheism and the “internationalist” rejection of national identity.

“in which a woman was killed by a far right demonstrator”

Criminal journalists who intentionally malign conservatives with this blood libel need to be publicly hung.

The man was an Obama supporter. There are no “far right” Obama supporters.

There are people paying to cause these murders. They need to be held to account also.

I think it's a propaganda ploy by libtards, to make it look like conservatives are Nazis.

Socialism and big government. Who on the right wants those things? Only Nazis and liberals do.

Very interesting comments. She seems to have a handle on what’s going on here. Indicating background knowledge of the fact that organizers of these various highly organized protests belonged to or have lefty connections.

Let them have their hissy fit. The far left look very much like Nazis SS brown shirts that disrupted opposition political meetings and beat up attendees.

Where did you get the idea the killer in the car was an Obama supporter?

Are you confusing him with the “Obama supporter” who was with Occupy Wall Street before Nov 2016 when Trump won the election and who headed the group Unite the Right?

Good for Prime Minister Solberg!

Violent, anti-Jewish big government socialist movements on the extreme right such as Klan, and National Socialist Nazis/neo-Nazis do have a lot in common with Soviet Socialists, Antifa, BLM, and other violent, anti-Jewish big government socialist movements on the extreme left. Does it really matter whether those who want to control every aspect of our lives as they kill Jews and take control over the entire economy claim to be on the left or on the right? Both sides are pure evil - and as similar to each other as mass murdering Hitler's right hand and mass murdering Stalin's left hand.

We cannot allow freedom's enemies on either extreme to control the narrative. The Ctrl-Left hates this criticism more than any other, because it's true and because it weakens their biggest lie, the one they tell the most frequently and most loudly.

In an ailing post-WWI Germany, many conservatives, monarchists and the well-to-do found the international socialists so repellent that the national socialists looked good by comparison. Both parties were on the left, but the comintern was just as reliant as anyone on what Goebbels termed the 'big lie" and they went all-in on the "right wing" canard. Hitler was all too happy to co-opt whatever real "right" existed until he was in a position to marginalize or eliminate them.

"Rght-wing nazi" is simply an oxymoron that communists made part of their tool kit because it is effective when shouted over and over.

“Why are they called far right?”

Because the Nazis made themselves unpopular on a world scale. The Left had to instantly disown them or suffer the same fate. They created the fiction that the Nazis, the German national socialist workers party, were actually the far right. Their success in doing this was phenomenal. But, they control all of academia and most of the presses. Anybody who wanted their history book published towed the line or didn’t get it published. The left also controls the selection of texts for public schools. Their power is huge.

I first noticed this in seventh grade and remember turning back to the chapter on the Nazi movement and wondering how the text, in a later chapter, could call them the Right Wing. I thought it was simply a mistake. That was back in 1967.
