The real NFL slave auction occurs every spring and is televised on several networks: the NFL Draft.
I once heard a story of parents who punished their kids every morning for what they would do wrong later in the day. Maybe we should all have an early morning apology for everything politically correct we’re going to say.
Liberal ESPN tips it’s hand to show the disgusting underbelly of leftism again.
I’ve never even heard of a fantasy “auction”, which seems to be completely ESPN’s invention.
What I’ve discovered about creativity and humor is, no matter how good or creative or humorous it is, if the audience is wide enough, somebody will be insulted, aggrieved or pissed-off. You can’t please everybody and somebody with an audience that wide shouldn’t try. My apology would read, “Sorry you’re pissed off, but how you viewed it is up to you. Likewise, being pissed off is a choice you made and doesn’t reflect our intentions.”
When VW was criticized for naming the, I believe, Touareg, after a group that owned slaves, the CEO said, in German, something on the order of, “They can kiss my *ss.” And, that seemed to be the end of it.
A college professor of mine recalled in his college days (a long time ago), a biology professor asked for a volunteer to demonstrate different bones, and muscles, etc. He asked for a volunteer, and a black male student came up front, and took of his shirt. As soon as the instructor pointed at part of the torso with his pointer, the class jokester yelled “I bid $50 dollah!”
ESPN.... This ‘sports’ network is going the way of the dinosaur.
There was a time when they talked about sports, now all they talk about is politics... And as a result they’re losing tens of thousands of subscribers every month. They don’t seem to comprehend how sad and pathetic it is to subject their listeners and viewers to ‘sports’ analyst talking about race issues and politics.
If he were alive Jimmy the ‘Greek’ would beg to differ... Then again, maybe he wouldn’t.
