They got their good Semites bad Semites confused.

Quite possible: In my corner of Germany (Schwarzwald), b&b operators have had great trouble contending with "Israeli" guests who didn't know how to, e.g., separate waste streams or otherwise conform to basic standards of behavior - to the point that they have begun refusing to accept reservations from guests from Israel.

Of course, the articles describing this problem never choose to more-precisely identify the "Israeli" tourists (who are, in fact, probably not Jewish).

Yes.
I have observed the phenomenon of exalted and exulting Israeli tourists not conforming to standards of behavior both in Switzerland and Asia.
A problem. Specially in meticulous environments.
