Meet Jeffrey Boog Powell, the newest Little Leaguer to lasso Americas heart.
The Tennessee 12-year-old stands at an imposing 5-foot-2 and 220 pounds and looks every bit like a fearless slugger with swagger.
And although hes no relation to that other Boog, the Baltimore Orioles great or to the As newly acquired Powell when he stepped up to the plate Monday night during the Little League Southeast Regional semifinals, he immediately became the object of Twitter affection...

Well if he doesn't watch it, it won't be a very long time. And all these people trying to sugar-coat it, aren't doing him any favors.
s/b “Well if he doesn’t watch it, it won’t be a very long life”.
So the message is even if you aren’t good you are a star as long as you try hard and feel good about yourself?
When my son was 11, there was a 12 year old in the little league who was over 6 feet tall and maybe 220 lbs. The kids was HUGE! But he wasnt’ fat. He wasn’t a great hitter, but when he connected, it went over the fence by a mile. He is now 6’9 350lbs and will be in the NFL next year.
There are people who know a lot more about baseball than me.
I had to teach myself the fundamentals of baseball to coach young guys.
Pitching and hitting favor wide bodies.
Fielding and base running favor lighter people.
Big guys can be good at baseball.
He’s still a “Boog” er anyway!

I suppose, if he wants, he can just say he feels like a girl, and play on the girls’ team.
We had a “fat” kid on my little league team. He parked it every at bat. I never knew what happened to him. All kids grow differently. I know formerly skinny kids who are now quite rotund. In the Army BMI screwed a lot of very good NCO’s who were NOT fat.
