I remember a spelling bee when I was a kid. The teacher kept reiterating how wonderful the prize would be for the winner. She already decided who she thought the winner would be, but he lost..to me. Her wonderful prize was a freaking pencil. I never bothered again.
I hope this kid actually gets her money. She worked hard for it.
I think it is wonderful that so many of the spelling bee champs are of Indian heritage.... and the National Geographic Bee.

Jeez - don’t tell Jim Acosta - he thinks the only people who would came to this country from overseas and be able to speak English would have to come from Great Britain or Australia - she not only speaks the language, but spells it too - Acosta should be so smart....
