Mick Jagger unveiled two politically charged new songs, "England Lost" and "Get a Grip." The Rolling Stones singer said he penned the tracks in response to the "anxiety [and] unknowability of the changing political situation." He added, "We obviously have a lot of problems. So am I politically optimistic?
No."

Jagger’s political songs are never good. Probably because he doesn’t really care about politics.

I like ‘em both, but then Sir Mick hasn’t done much that disappoints. “England Lost” has kind of a U2-ish sound to it but you can’t always get what you want.
I guess if Mick is ever going to get political, now’s the time.

“England Lost” but remember that “London (is) calling.” After all “Phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust.”

“Hang Fire” was a pretty strong indictment of the welfare state that Britain had become.
“In the Sweet Old Country where I come from, nobody ever works, and nothing gets done, we hang fire....”

Here's Mick having a brief reunion with his oldddddddddd band, the "Rolling Rocks", covering this classic song from their fellow travelers, the "Beerbellies".

We just spent two weeks in England and watching the BBC. They’re more screwed up than we are by far!
