Sixteen weeks day before yesterday.. Lots of jolly ranchers but no patches or chantix or nicogum. Haven’t been too cranky but yeah, I still want one. Guess it’s supposedly in the psych stage now and not physical. ;-)

Only looks at one part of the equation.

Take a 100 people who vape. 8% quit. That’s a good thing.

However, if at the same time, E-cigs are normalized and 100 teenagers, start to vape, become addicted...then switch to cigarettes. Well, there is no gain to society.

Building a new pipeline to addiction is absurd.

...but there’s no consensus on whether vaping devices can help anti-smoking efforts.

If you've switched from cigarettes to vaping you've already quit smoking. There is something like 59 noxious gases and chemicals in cigarette smoke, including carbon monoxide, plus tar, and there is only nicotine in vaping. Quite possibly the least noxious chemical of the 59.

Of course our all-wise government, at every level, who has demonized tobacco and put excessive taxes on it, is working on banning or heavily taxing vaping. Tobacco is evil but it's the government's evil and competition will not be allowed.

It’s how my son-in-law was able to quit.

I smoked my last cigarette on 11/9/09 thanks to e-cigs.

Still happily vaping after all these years.

I don’t care what anyone says. I tried patches, gum, Chantix, cold turkey, mint chews, etc. Everything short of hypnosis.

The ONLY thing that worked for me was the ecig.

With everything else, I went back every time. Reason was, I had no conditioning to make me NOT want to go back. Just stopping is easy. Making your body lose interest is the hard part.

I started on 24 mg nicotine. At that level, a hard puff off of the ecig would just about take your head off. Cigarettes became pointless, and I began using the ecig entirely.

Weaned myself down to 12 mg, 6 mg, 3 mg, and 1.5 mg. Then, 0mg. That was last summer.

Then I started noticing some weird things. I’d lose my ecig. I’d set it down for hours at a time then suddenly realize that I hadn’t hit it in a while, and then I wouldn’t be able to find it. Started forgetting to take it with me when I went out. Started leaving it at home when I went to work.

Eventually, my fancy voltage controlled, giant nerd battery died. I said, “I’ll just order another one tomorrow.”

Tomorrow turned into days, days into weeks, weeks into months. Never found time to place that order. I’m coming up on one year since the last time I put nicotine in my body. This winter, I’m going to be coming up on one year without inhaling anything except air pollution and campfire smoke.

I have no desire to pick up a cigarette. I’ve been offered on many occasions and I always turn it down.

What’s left of my ecig sits in a drawer. I keep it as a reminder of the electronic ball and chain I used to have to carry around with me. It was some of the best money I’ve ever spent.

we knew this....ecigs do help smokers quit...but no, the PC crowd couldn't have something to replace the tobacco industry and all its taxes....

its always about the money...always...

I’m not really sure changing delivery systems is quitting.

Going on five years for me since I had my last cig. I vape, started at 24mg of nicotine, down to 3 and could probably go to 1 if I wanted. I feel great and do not miss cigs. For anyone trying to quit via e cigs, do not let anyone discourage you with bad information. I asked my doctor and he said, “god bless e cigarettes”.
