An enormous spider has given a couple an almighty fright as it appeared on their glass door as they were trying to cook food. Lauren Ansell from Mount Coolum in Queensland posted a photo of a monster huntsman spider nicknamed 'Aragog' that appeared on the outside of the window where her partner was attempting to cook dinner. Ms Ansell said the spider appeared harmless, but did not take kindly after the pair attempted to move it from the glass.

I know the Huntsman normally are harmless, even killing the bad spiders, but I’m okay that our jumping, non web building spiders are all small and cute here....

Pfft. I used to have a 1978 Fiat Spider that was bigger than that.
It was so unreliable that it was a lot scarier than that one too.

I would pick up these paperweights, and be filled with marvel and terror at the same time.
They told me that not only were these spiders aggressive, they were incredibly FAST!
This implies that whether they would succeed in cooking food was an open question.
I have difficulty believing that a spider that big could be crawling on a smooth, flat, and vertical pane of glass. I know spiders have magical powers and all, but the ability of small bugs to go up vertical surfaces is limited by weight. That looks like a string holding it up.
Normally, I use a paper cup and a sheet of paper to capture and remove a spider.
That spider would require a bucket and thick cardboard. And I think I would hurl the bucket as far as I could when it comes time to release the spider away from the house.
Of course, if it’s real, we’ve finally found a legitimate household use for tactical nuclear weapons.
Maybe it has suction feet, like frogs.

Geckos which are much heavier can walk upside down on a ceiling.
When I lived in the Philippines, we use to catch them, and they could be up to a 6-12 inches long with an outsized head as wide as a shot glass, so...pretty heavy.
I had a broom, and swiped at one to knock it down to catch it, and it fell alright...right onto my upturned face.
As I shrieked and frantically swiveled my head from side to side in panic, I knocked my glasses off.
They came to rest about five feet away with the gecko firmly holding onto them still!
