What is a Journalite

What is a Journalite?

What is a journalist?
A journalist is a person who practices the occupation or profession of journalism.

What is journalism?
Journalism as a profession is the occupation of reporting, writing, editing, photographing, or broadcasting news or of conducting any news organization as a business.

Journalism is also any course study preparing students for careers in reporting, writing, and editing for newspapers and magazines.

Journalism is writing that reflects superficial thought and research,
a popular slant,
and hurried composition,
conceived of as exemplifying topical newspaper
or popular magazine writing
as distinguished from scholarly writing:
He calls himself a historian, but his books are mere journalism.

Now I know that a Journalist practices journalism. But that begs the question; what is a correct title or label for the people who purport to practice journalism but are lacking, severely in some cases.

What is journalite?
I created the word Journalite to describe today’s journalism. I reserve the word, Journalist for those few random acts of true journalism.

Journalite leads in the right direction but it needs more detailed definitions. We are familiar with the category called “Investigative Journalism” and now must become familiar with “Leaked journalism”. This means there will be an “Investigative Journalite” and “Leaked journalite”.

I recall a Black/White movie about the newspaper business. In one scene the cub reporter is asking the seasoned reporter the different between a reporter and this new thing, a journalist. The seasoned reporter said that the difference was that the reporter reports the news whilst the journalist stars in the news.

TOPICS: Local News; Reference; Society; TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: journalite
Can you suggest more journalite categories?

When a journalist wants to be part of the story, as if their opinion really matters anyways.

Reporters report the news as it is, journalists report the news as they wish it was.

I don’t know if this is what you’re asking after but:

Journalite Opinioneers: Ideologues of whatever side type or sort.

Journalite Suicidalists: Those pretty young female journalites who believe it’s perfectly safe to go into muslim lands with no protection to cover the latest jihadiscum madfest.

Journalite Pathologicals: CNN, MSNBC, BBC, etc.

Let me put some perspective to your comment since I am an industry journalist -- though not a political journalist.

I like what you're trying to do: categorize and attach labels to separate true jourmalists from the imposters.

If CNN would simply tell everyone that it's a partisan organization that works for Leftist candidates, most of this controversy would go away. But they won't do that. They'll tell us they are doing strictly objective journalism. That's the big lie.

So one question I'd like to ask a Jake Tapper is: how would you distinguish what you're doing from a Rush Limbaugh? Actually, way more people get their news from Limbaugh than they do from a CNN.

The categories I would give you are:

One trend that seems undeniable in today world of journalism is that they are expected to do a bit of interpretation as opposed to simply regurgitating facts. Certainly the news story writers of the Wall Street Journal have mastered this art. Their editorial writers continue to sling the bull, especially that ex-Reagan speechwriter whose name I forget right now.

But pointing out how they are partisans and willing accomplices with Clinton during the election is a great way to get some revenge.

Trump is effectively poking holes in their resumes and profession. The impact will felt in less students going into the journalism profession. Before Trump, the Fake News considered themselves God's gift to the world. Now they get a lot less respect when they go home for Thanksgiving. Their cousins laugh at them behind their backs.

Today your average American believes journalites are nothing more than presstiutes for a partisan cause. People like Chuck Todd:

Thanks Liz,

This is my new campaign. Always associate the brand with the owners. TimeWarner CNN etc.

And Trump is following this course too, calling out Amazon Washington Post...in his latest tweets.

The categories I would give you are:

Thank you. I say "bingo" for the three categories you created. I was immediately able to connect at least one name to each category.

As a young boy with zero interest in politics I would learn how to pronounce words correctly and improve my grammar by listening to the radio "commentators" comment on the news reports. Today's journalites don't use correct grammar.

The next thing I would like to noodle is how to display my displeasure of the media attempts to manipulate me by deception. The pocketbook may be the key to influencing the media to take steps to improve.

Thanks, Moses.

We need to fire a whole generation of journalites.

I agree that hitting them in the pocketbook is key. And expose the owners at the top.

A company like Disney does not like it’s brand being hurt. But they continue to obstruct Trump through ABC News.
