Murder by callus and depraved inaction. The “teens” that would do such a thing are beyond redemption.
Callous.
They were using marijuana at the time.
You know, that victimless crime drug.
Which sort of helps to explain why they didn’t call the authorities.
Also possibly relevant: the violent nature of the late Mister “Money” Dunn, who was sent up the river in 2013 for assaulting two counts of assaulting emergency medical attendants. If this guy will attack adult ambulance personnel, what’s he going to do to high school stoners in the water when nobody can swim?
The guy had a fight with his girl, stomped off mad, and went walking out into the water. I am guessing his anger and screaming didn’t invite the stoners to later empathize with his plight.
It’s an opportunity to put the kids in mandatory rehab, but let’s not write them off yet as a danger to society. That designation properly belongs to the decedent who himself was a product of our revolving door prison system.
I do believe in rehabilitation. I also believe from observation that if drugs are involved it rarely sticks with less than three year sentences. Don’t treat these kids harsher than the judiciary who helped to form Dunn into what he was.
