They were using marijuana at the time.
You know, that victimless crime drug.
Which sort of helps to explain why they didn’t call the authorities.

Also possibly relevant: the violent nature of the late Mister “Money” Dunn, who was sent up the river in 2013 for assaulting two counts of assaulting emergency medical attendants. If this guy will attack adult ambulance personnel, what’s he going to do to high school stoners in the water when nobody can swim?

The guy had a fight with his girl, stomped off mad, and went walking out into the water. I am guessing his anger and screaming didn’t invite the stoners to later empathize with his plight.

It’s an opportunity to put the kids in mandatory rehab, but let’s not write them off yet as a danger to society. That designation properly belongs to the decedent who himself was a product of our revolving door prison system.

I do believe in rehabilitation. I also believe from observation that if drugs are involved it rarely sticks with less than three year sentences. Don’t treat these kids harsher than the judiciary who helped to form Dunn into what he was.

Our kids are not born with sympathy or empathy. It has to be instilled and there are many in a certain demographic that have no redeeming qualities.

A mother who will not bond and a father not present to demonstrate manhood, chivalry, gentility and heroism.

These kids were lost in the womb.

I cannot swim but there’s NO WAY I would have not found some way to do something to save him, no matter what.

Soulless little bastards.

Atleast they weren’t aborted.

>I find that hard to believe. But it does track with the reason blacks don’t sky dive. It’s because their lips explode at altitude.

Don’t be an jerk.

My closest friends growing up where a couple of black kids and they sank like rocks while I floated. Both became excellent swimmers but it was harder work for them. I later learned learned this is a well know but under repeated fact because noticing difference between races is considered racist.

Buoyancy being different... not a racial thing, Archimedes can be blamed..

Buoyancy is direct result of the weight of the “object” relative to the weight of the water displaced by the object.

Lean muscle is denser and weighs more than fat per unit volume. A lean muscular person will therefore have less buoyancy than one with a chubby build or greater body fat, say the physics of that person in water.

It is probably a gross stereotype to apply this to an entire race, but on average, across the board, males of that race tend to be lean and muscular, more so than white people. Therefore the myth (or reality?)of “sinkage”.

Blacks are overrepresented in drownings because their parents did not teach them to have a healthy respect for the water, particularly if those same parents never taught them to swim. I’m sure it’s also part of the different IQ distribution and the lower percentage of blacks that can swim as well. There are black kids who know they can’t swim who nevertheless get into the water and drown every year, particularly in the warm months. That bit really bothers me because if you can’t swim, you have no business near the water.

I was a very strong championship swimmer and lifeguard when I was in high school and still a lifeguard in my early 20s. Then, I was okay with a struggling person because I was in the water every day and had a lot of endurance. Now, if I was in a situation like this I would throw a rope if I had one and even get close to do so but I would never attempt a physical rescue. Drowning people have a habit of trying to drown their rescuer. I’ve experienced it once and it’s scary (remembered part of my lifeguard training which was to start punching the person if they did that...it worked).

It is possible that none of the youths knew how to swim and that trying

Yeah, that’s the ticket. It’s possible that they were all quadriplegics. Or maybe they were all just disinterested in the fate of a drowning man. Or just mildly amused. I refuse to make excuses for them, let them make their own up.

Black kids just sink due to buoyancy being different.

Say...what? No, I’m pretty sure that’s not right. At all. In any way, ever.

Tell it to the African kids who grow up next to the rivers and lakes. Or to the island people who are black. Man, you need a better source of information.

Yeah, that must be why Navy SEALS are all such poor swimmers. And skinny kids just sink. And why Michael Phelps, gold medal record holder in swimming, is so FAT! You need a new tin foil hat.

Why open you mouth if you don’t jack about it? Ask any life guard, the kids they watch like hawks are black kids because they sink like rocks.

https://lotpotoa.wordpress.com/2010/08/19/why-black-people-cant-swim/

>There is a whole body of evidence showing that there are distinct differences in body types among blacks and whites. These are real patterns being described here — whether the fastest sprinters are Jamaican, African or Canadian — most of them can be traced back generally to Western Africa. Swimmers tend to come from Europe, and therefore tend to be white.

No I need to spend less time chatting with ignorant people who run their mouths off about things they don’t know jack about...

I taught kids to swim myself and there is a difference, as un-PC as it is to notice such things. That doesn’t mean black kids can’t learn to swim, it just means that it’s a more intimidating prospect because as a group they don’t float as well. Yes, there are obese black kids and yes, they float well. Yes, there are white kids with very low body fat and yes they sink, usually several feet below the surface before buoyancy is achieved. I’ve often thought western and northern Europeans have a subcutaneous fat layer much like Labrador Retrievers and it serves much the same purpose, insulation to retain warmth but it also provides flotation.

Interesting. Higher testosterone for black men as well. Lean muscle mass and higher levels of violence.

For body building competitions calf muscles aren’t heavily factored in. Buddy of mine competed about ten years ago. Said that blacks have calf muscles that are higher (giving them fast takeoff for sprinting) and smaller than whites.

Blacks have more fast twitch muscle which makes them quicker for sports like basketball and the takeoff in sprinting.

Hence the finals of the 100 meters for men and women at the Olympics being 99% black over the last 50 years.

A science major I read about this week mentioned in a sociology class (she was taking it as an elective) that based on bone structure forensic scientists can identify a skeleton by race. She was called a Nazi and sent out of the class for speaking the truth.

Scientists trying to study differences between the races have been branded racist for suggesting there is such a thing and their research de-funded.

Along with the coat of insulation, whites had to evolve larger brains to survive the winter months. Doesn’t take a lot of brain power to grab bananas out of a tree 24/7 year round. Surviving 4 months of cold weather takes some pre-planning.

Not ‘duty to rescue’ here in the United States.

But interesting how upset folks have been over this video.

Perhaps we should impose one?

For reference:

Civil law

Many civil law systems, which are common in Continental Europe, Latin America and much of Africa, impose a far more extensive duty to rescue.[3] The only exclusion is that while providing rescue, the person must not endanger his or her own life or that of others.

This can mean that anyone who finds someone in need of medical help must take all reasonable steps to seek medical care and render best-effort first aid. Commonly, the situation arises on an event of a traffic accident: other drivers and passers-by must take an action to help the injured without regard to possible personal reasons not to help (e.g. having no time, being in a hurry) or ascertain that help has been requested from officials.[citation needed] In practice however, almost all cases of compulsory rescue simply require the rescuer to alert the relevant entity (police, fire brigade, ambulance) with a phone call.[citation needed]

COCOA is a cesspool. There is not one decent area.
The name indicates what the town is all about.
