Kind of funny, I read this story earlier today on the left leaning Yahoo news and the writer said the couple disappeared in 1942 before WWII. 1942? That would be right in the middle of the war for Europe. The comments were hilarious.

That would be right in the middle of the war for Europe. The comments were hilarious. The surviving daughter, now age 79, remembers her father being happy and singing when she last saw him. So this is sort of like an alternate-reality version of the Von Trapp story.
