A former high school chemistry teacher convicted of cooking methamphetamines in New Mexico like the fictional Walter White character in the show "Breaking Bad" was sentenced on Wednesday to four years in prison on four meth-related counts, according to the Doña Ana District Attorney.
The 56-year-old John W. Gose was arrested in October after police discovered glassware, rubber tubing and chemicals used to cook methamphetamines during a routine traffic stop.

No, I will not believe that a high school chemistry teacher in NM was cooking up meth.
Just not true, not in NM.
I’m a chemist. It’s really not hard to make meth. There are actually three different synthetic routes to choose from. In Breaking Bad, they touched on all three routes, but they never gave away how to actually make the stuff....and I was watching carefully. I’m not surprised someone got lured into it. There are three chemicals (for the three routes I mentioned) that if bought, get the attention of the authorities. And, yes, methylamine is one of those chemical.
You don’t buy methylamine you siphon it out of a rail tanker car.
They don’t seem to ever say how to really make stuff like that in movies or TV.
My husband used to watch McGuyver, and would always ask me if the things that McGuyver cooked up were real.
As I recall, they always were impossible chemical compounds.
Your husband couldn’t make the compounds because McGuyvering requires duct tape, and a mullet.
Don’t tell me, his nickname was Heisenberg...
[Dont tell me, his nickname was Heisenberg...]
“You’re G** da**ed right it is”
The writers made sure not to give away how to really do it. They worked with drug cops to get the realism of the labs and show some parts of the process. Made sure not to show everything.
Some of McGuyver’s concoctions were chemical compounds. Impossible ones.
The question naturally arises, “Was he inspired by the show?”
