I'll go with the theory that they are incoherent, spoiled little snots who are just trying to get a rise out of decent people. It's probably just a monstrous hoax, but a hoax that no decent person would ever participate in. I would dearly love to see a couple of these snotty little bastards get a taste of their own medicine.

They are violent anarchists who hate this country. Why not do any crazy, offensive thing that pops into their heads? I highly doubt any of them actually know anything about the battle—or that they care. Do you really think these disturbed (mostly) young people could say anything intelligent or well-informed about the Civil War at all?

Supposedly they are planning on burning both American and Confederate flags at the battlefield. It’s our entire history and heritage they want to distort and eliminate.
