D.C.'s initiatives focus on improving how the District, businesses and residents manage what rats love: all that delicious trash.

WASHINGTON — Warmer winters apparently have been great for D.C.’s rat community, and District officials hope to change that.

Mayor Muriel Bowser outlined initiatives Thursday to reduce the rat population, which is believed to have increased in the last few years. According to officials, the number of rodent-abatement requests increased last year by 65 percent — from 2,300 in 2015 to more than 3,500 in 2016.

I recommend a tactical nuke under the Capitol Dome.

Somewhere I heard that an enterprising fellow had turned pizza boxes into rat traps.

Anyone else heard about this project?

Oh, the puns write themselves!
My solution? Trail wads of cash everywhere you go in DC. When you have enough following, throw it in the Anacostia River.

Until I saw the picture,I wasn’t sure which type of rodent it was talking about. The one pictured is probably the least dangerous type there is.

This is nothing more than a clarion call for more money to be given to the city, which will immediately be pissed away on endeavors unrelated to the issue it was intended for.

The two legged DC Rats cause a whole lot more damage than their smaller 4 legged cousins.

Offer 5 bucks for each dead rat. A trial run for CWII.

Yes, but as we have seen, they leave office but they don't leave DC.

As for controlling trash, just shut down WAPO and most of the garbage these rats feed on will be eliminated.

Some friends and I were sitting on a bench in Pershing Park which is near the Willard Hotel one night last summer. In just a couple of minutes, we saw probably 50 rats running around the park. I’ve always seen rats at night in DC, but this was like a horror movie.

It's definitely a frightening sight, even during the day...
