I have family living in NYC (two separate families). I seriously doubt that any of them would bat an eyelash if they saw a celebrity. Like they’d give a crap. I thought that was supposed to be a New York thing: people were too cool/aloof/busy/whatever to be starstruck.

Well, and let’s face it: the way these people, even the men, look out of their on-camera makeup is pretty different. Most of them look pretty freaking average without it...some of them look even worse than that. Who would notice plain Janes Katie Holmes and Julia Roberts with bags under their eyes, no mascara and with their hair barely brushed? Not I. They probably want to just fly under the radar sometimes, anyway, and looking decidedly UNglamorous is a great way to do it.
