I suspect that people a century ago were somewhat more commonsense.
If they were not, they died. They were nowhere as protected as they are now.

This is mostly a phenomenon of “culture fair” tests. The tests use problems that are unfamiliar to all takers to remove cultural bias in the tests. The problem is that once people start taking a “culture fair” test its format becomes known and future takers score better than earlier test takers.
Vocabulary test results decreased somewhat during the 20th Century but they are ignored due to allegations of unfairness of these tests.

Thank you. What a lot of people fail to understand is the IQ is not how smart you are, it’s what you have retained. Being able to work with it is a whole other story.
The problem is that those IQ points are out there. But the loser of these points just don’t care to find them. They are lazy and expect to be taken care of so they don’t have to retain and apply.

A loss of 14-points has to be like saying there is 11-million illegal aliens here in U.S.
IMHO, since the the 1968 takeover of the former public school system by the black robes of the SC and the creation of the Department of “Education”, the average IQ of the subsequent generations of serfs has decreased to approximately one-half that of the “moron” level in the 1950’s.
Sort of matches the comparable reduction in the masculinity in males.

At the beginning of the Spanish-American war the city of Charleston, SC put out notice that it would be organizing a militia of volunteers to go and fight.
Roughly 175 men volunteered, but half of them were deemed too malnourished and were turned away.
I have always found this story to be interesting. On several levels.
How much of that was due to migration, I wonder?
Of course a lot it was due the fact that we subsidize the breeding of the lame and the lazy.
