Nose rings always make me shudder, I think growing up on a farm seeing bulls with them in there.
It is a form of “neo-primitivism” i guess...
Used to be you could easily convince people of dropping stupid habits and affectations by comparing it to something that would embarrass them or run counter to the image they want to project.
“You think that nose ring looks good? That’s how a big bull is lead to where his little master wants him to go. You want folks to think someone owns you? That you can be lead around by the nose?”
