One of the nations biggest health insurers says it will not return to Ohios public insurance exchanges next year, a decision that could open more holes in the Affordable Care Acts increasingly thin system for helping people buy coverage.
The move announced Tuesday by Anthem Inc. could leave shoppers in 20 counties without an option for buying individual coverage on the exchange unless another insurer steps in, according to data compiled by The Associated Press and the consulting firm Avalere.
The exchanges are the only place where people can use an income-based tax credit to help cover the cost of coverage. [ ]
Another insurer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, said late last month that it also was leaving the exchanges, a decision that could leave 25 counties in that market with no on-exchange options. People may be able to find options off the exchange there but without the benefit of a subsidy to help pay for coverage.

The ACA is falling apart. Now if those Republican clowns in the Senate can get their act together.
Anthem; Rush; Fly by Night; 1975
The name of the insurance company in the headline reminded me of the song.
“The ACA is falling apart.”
as it was designed to do; as we all here KNEW it was designed to do.
EXCEPT, Hillary was supposed to be President and the Dems have majorities in both Houses so they could step in and “save the day”, with the “ONLY” possible solution: “single-payer”.
The Pubs should do what President Trump said he would do as soon as he was inaugurated, namely NOT deal with obamacare until late 2017 or early 2018, which at that time, and which I still do, believe was a brilliant strategy because obamacare would be so imploded by it’s own death spiral, that people would be demanding that obamacare be repealed and replaced.
Too bad Paul Ryan nearly scuttled Trump’s original plan.
But then they will be fined for not buying insurance!
Nailed it - thanks!
What's my point? How long will it be before the insurance companies get sued for covering these prescriptions? It would be crazy to stay until that happens.
