Throughout history there have been brave men of honor and talent who came forth at the right time to help save humanity.

We all know of Washington, Nimitz, Patton, Charles Martel, and countless unnamed other citizens who used their God given gifts to help save their countries in crisis.

Today, June 4 2017, marks the 150th birthday of Finland's greatest hero, Marshal Carl Gustav Mannerheim. He is truly considered the George Washington of modern Finland.

I have done a bit of reading on the Winter War - not so much on the Continuation War - and I found Mannerheim to be interesting, though somewhat enigmatic; he was certainly nobody's fool.

I visited Finland a few years ago. Went to the Winter War Museum. Very interesting.
