Let's just really imagine what would be going on tonight if that were the case...they would drop the Russian nonsense like a hot potato and have 24//7 wall-to-wall emergency coverage of it as if it were a terrorist event.
The perp would receive death threats, have to go into hiding, and be fired from his/her job immediately. Or maybe not hiding, because they'd be thrown in jail without bond immediately and have to spend a fortune on legal bills, assume a new identity, and likely go bankrupt. All their relatives and childhood friends would be harassed to find out how they became such an evil person.
