Last night, we happened to notice at our neighbor's what looked like a surveillance camera red light pointed directly at our patio and bedroom window. The red dot was emanating from a vertically hanging 3 glass ball patio ornament. Black balls. The balls appear to be something like pieced together like stained glass. There appears to be one taunt functional dark wire/string connecting them but there is another tan wire/string loosely attached between them. IOW, the tan wire/string is not carrying any weight and I see no purpose for it.

Not crossing the property line, I waved at it and within 5 minutes the red light disappeared. Now, it could have been some weird coincidence and the red light could have been a strange reflection from their outside light on one of the pieces of glass though the "stained glass look" (whatever it is made of) is black. During the day, it occasionally shines a sun spot onto our living room wall.

We aren't friendly so I can't just pop in for a visit to take a closer look. Fifteen years ago, the LEO was investigating him over a child molestation and even today his grandkids don't visit when he's there. He doesn't know we know and he's not on the sex offender registry so maybe it was never proven. This is one of his and his wife's vacation houses so they aren't here much but that doesn't mean surveillance can't be there 24/7/365.

Over the past couple years, his wifi has been on continuously so I had suspected he had cameras.

This morning, in the daylight, I can't tell if it's a camera or what. If it is, short of punching the guy and yanking it down, what can be done?

You could put a sign in your window that reads something like: “Move your camera elsewhere.”

When the red light comes on aim a bright light at the camera.

Pull your window shades down, preferably with a mean comment on them facing the camera.

Look at it with a telescope to see what it is.
Ask him if that is a camera.
It’s not unusual to have surveillance cameras outside of homes, especially vacation homes.
Put a spotlight on your house pointed directly at it.

Buy the most powerful green laser you can find.

http://www.wickedlasers.com/krypton

Carefully aim it directly at the camera and keep it there.

I’ve got cameras up around my house. I don’t think I have any pointed at the neighbors, except for the one that points down the driveway can see the house across the street.

Privacy fence.

And then there’s the song...
“my brother married an ugly girl, he thinks he has it made.
when he makes love to his ugly girl the neighbor pulls his shade”

Why would he want to spy on you? Are you that interesting? Does J Lo visit regularly?

Those led lights are quite bright. It's probably for his own home security, just trying to protect his own property.

We always keep our blinds down in our master bedroom and keep nudity pretty much to that area of the house. It would be awfully boring for a pervert to be peeping on us.

The only thing he’d get is me in my bathing suit outside and I don’t care if he sees that. Otherwise, I would not go out with my suit on.

Here's a video of someone that has built a gadget for disrupting a cctv. Unfortunately, there's no instruction...guy never says a word. But it looks like whatever he built...works. Further research needed.

BB gun.

Million candle power spot light?

Green puke lazer beam?

Call the police on him. Any suspected illegal aliens on his property? Suspected drug dealings or perhaps a relapse into the pedophilia realm? He sure looks suspicious to me.

Find a large decorative solid art piece and put it right on the sight line of the camera right on the property line. It accomplishes the same purpose as a privacy fence.

If on friendly terms simply ask them about it. If not, install a bright light directed towards the camera, it should “blind” the camera.

In this day and age you almost have to assume you are being recording when ever you leave your house.

We have a camera inside our home that watches (and records) the back door, kitchen, garage entry, and living room entry.

It is on the internet and while we travel we can call it up to check on the house. They are useful tools. We don’t have one pointing at the neighbors (our life is boring enough without watching our boring neighbors) :^)
