That is really great. My brother (in real-estate) did the same thing when he was young. Lived in one, fixed up the other units and rented them out. Then he bought another one, etc. Probably not 22 - but 25 I bet.
He put in lots of “sweat equity” into those things but it paid off. He retired early a couple of years ago, and between doing well in real estate and owning several rental properties he can do what he wants. Although he still does most of the repairs himself when he can - and wants to!
