I'm looking for a good non-smart cell phone with a real, non-virtual keypad. I'm having difficulty finding one online, because so many phones are being offered as part of a wireless package. If I understand the technology correctly, I'm looking for an unlocked phone, i.e., can be used with any wireless service. My current wireless contract has expired and I am shopping for wireless service as well.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Wal-Mart.
Walmart and other stores have tracphones.
Just dig down in their phones and you will find a selection of flip phones.
A $20 Tracfone from Wal-Mart will fill the bill. You can unlock it by change the SIM. A Jitterbug phone is even simpler and dumber.
BTTT
Thanks. I should have mentioned I want a phone that can also be used for texting.
I bought my LG flip phone at Wal-Mart and use Net 10 which has options for contract, or pay as you go service. https://www.net10wireless.com/#/
walmart is still likely your best bet. Trac has multiple step options
I love dat phone!
LOL. Funny, but not helpful.
Yes, I realize it’s photo shopped. But one fellow actually did a phone hack into rotary dial.
I didn’t even think of Wal-Mart. I can go there and check them out for myself. Thanks.
Walmart or Tracfone online.
Tracfone prepaid is what I use. It costs about $6 per month (paid annually) for the service and per minute cards vary.
Walmart has several key-pad flipfones for Tracfone service. They range from about $10 up. Probably available locally or online. Also check Dollar General and Family Dollar. They have some similar flipfones.

I had to upgrade my flipfone because my fat fingers had trouble hitting the right keys and my old eyes had trouble reading the small screen.
Thanks. I’ve been to Amazon and, although it’s better than Best Buy, I’m still finding it difficult to find a phone. I was hoping I could get a recommendation here for a specific brand and model and can text. I neglected to mention that in my post.
When I explain why we say ‘dial’ an number to jr hi kids, they are amazed that phones used to have dials. Once in while, a kid will say, “my grandma has a phone with a dial”.
No extra charges, no hidden monthly fees, no contract; even being a flip-phone, it still has more bells and whistles than I'd ever want --including Internet access.
Unused minutes roll-over if your time period expires and you renew. I bought my Tracfone for emergency use only, although I have tested it all over my county to determine its service reliability. I live in the sticks in NC and have never had a reliability problem with the Tracfone.
After 3 years of renewing annually, I have nearly 2,000 unused/rolled-over minutes, heh.
Good luck!
Since you, too, have accumulated many minutes, this is a trick you might use in the future.
With Tracfone all minutes roll over. Next time your service comes due, purchase ONLINE at Tracfone.com the lowest minute card. I think they now offer a $10 for 30 minutes one. After you select your purchase, a pop-up window will appear and offer you an additional ‘bargain’ of a one-year service for about $60.

I bought a semi-smart and later a smart phone via QVC. HSN has similar deals. Phone plus 1200 to 1500 talk/text/data and one year of service for around $100. Then, additional minutes purchases are automatically tripled — a 60 minute card purchase automatically gives you 180 minutes. The ‘triple’ feature does not work for the ‘service’ cost, however.
