Stupid people seem to be magically drawn to social media.

I think proms will go by the wayside. Years ago, it was a way to have a more formal gathering for young people.

“We do pay taxes in this city, so that teachers can make a nice salary to do their jobs, not to comment about our kids.”

The guy who said that is too stupid to understand what the teacher is saying which is there is a complete disconnect between rational and irrational celebration about a high school diploma. Frankly, while not a big fan of government schools, I agree with the teacher.

Thou shalt not have an opinion - unless it is OURS!

Fired for telling the truth. The same can be said for quinceras and weddings.

When will teachers learn to STFU?

My son's teacher surely did not like my response to her emai, telling me he was caught playing a game on his school issued tablet.

I told her I would counsel my son to cease that activity; however, what did she think was going to happen when they opted to eliminate textbooks in favor of tablets?

She made a mistake saying all that on Social Media. Should have thought who else might be reading it.
Why not just write in in a diary?

Proms are ‘coming out’ parties for young people now, in the tradition of cotillions. They’ve gone WAY PAST cotillion dances with punch and cookies, though.

What's a shame is that there was some need to report her for expressing an opinion. Even back when proms cost mere hundreds of dollars when everything was added up, just about every school I've worked at handled it poorly. You can't stop parents from being jerks or daddies from wanting their little girl to be the prettiest most special young lady. What schools could do is promote an alternative for expensive prom decisions, like instead take up a collection to spend "prom savings" on something useful like a dinner for homeless veterans or some such charity.

Keep in mind that very often it's the same parents who fund these obscene choices that will complain that they can't afford to pay for their young 'uns college educations.

Hmmm...
A lot of stupid in this one
Where to start

Cussing at Kids, from an authority figure, in public, Bad
Kids making poor decisions, Bad but expected
Parents not supervising the use of resources of the kids, Bad
Supervisor publicly punishing Teacher who is trying to teach a life lesson, Bad

The “Damn” was over the top and probably the excuse they used to put her on leave.

These are the same parents/kids who will be shocked that the burger-flipping jobs the basket-weaving degrees get them won’t pay off their six-figure student loans.

Whew!

Remember, snapchat isn’t public. THe snapchat might not even ‘exist’, in most cases they are generated, get sent to the people who are the “friends”, and then deleted.

You generally have to register to follow a person on snapchat. And you can set it up to require a confirmation, or you can leave your snapchat open.

So the people who saw this are her followers (as it said in the article), people who signed up to get her unfiltered comments.

But no, some idiot parent is so butt-hurt by being called out that they had to go to the authorities? That’s one of many things wrong with our country.

Reminds me of people who spend thousands of dollars on a picture book wedding when they don’t own a pot to piss in.

What exactly is “administrative leave,” and what happens when a matter is “under investigation?”
