Pretty sure Lowenbrau was an American made beer back in the day. If I remember right it was to Miller as Michelob was to Budweiser, their fancy-pants upscale brew.

It is a brewery in Munich that is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Lowenbrau was made here in the US by Miller back in the day, as you say.

I liked the special dark. Still look for it on the shelf every once in awhile, but it’s not available in the states anymore. It’s all made in the original Munich brewery now, and you can’t get it in the US.
