Four-time IndyCar Series champ and three-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti was robbed at a Taco Bell drive-thru along with Indy 500 pole-sitter Scott Dixon, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department tweeted. NBC Sports reported both men were fine.
IMPD arrested two juvenile suspects after the two Indy drivers were reportedly robbed at gunpoint. Multiple reports said Dixon's wife was also a victim of the incident, according to the police report.
Franchitti, the ex-husband of actress Ashley Judd, is retired from racing. The robbery occurred just hours after Dixon won the pole for this Sunday's race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Tony Kanaan shared what he knew with some reporters Monday morning.
"Dixon had a late night with the pole and stuff and we were all starving," Kanaan said in a video posted by an Indianapolis Star reporter. "I decided that we need to grab dinner and Dixon was gonna buy dinner for obvious reasons. We're hanging in the bus lot, so we sent him out to get some drive-thru here on 16th Street at Taco Bell. While they were ordering with the windows down, two guys approached them at gunpoint and put a gun on Dixon's head and asked him for his wallet and his phone. I guess he didn't have his phone. He had his wife's wallet because he left his wallet So he gave them the wallet and those guys left. But I guess later on at night they caught those two guys."
"You don't expect that to happen, especially here," Kanaan added. "I don't know. It's like, you're going through a drive-thru. I'm never gonna be, like, alert at a drive-thru thinking someone's gonna point a gun at my head while I'm trying to buy a $20 fast food.

I was wondering why they chose such vile “food” when they can afford much better.
The two yutes?
I thought it was incredible that the NY Daily News writer figured it was better to identify Dario Franchitti as the ex-husband of Ashley Judd, rather than as a former Indy 500 winner.
A native Italian, choosing Taco Hell when there were other options. Say it ain’t so! ;)
Because Eli’s Steakhouse isn’t open at 2AM.
16th & Berwick is basically Haughville. You don’t want to go to Haughville, especially after sundown.
Let’s just say that I know some people in GP. Many of the drivers crave Taco bell and McDonalds.
The Pit crews too.
No, don’t ask me.

After being married to Judd, getting robbed was the second biggest bullet Dario franchitti dodged
Go to the motel and get room service or order pizza. Not gonna even start with the ‘pole sitter’ puns.
They probably have no idea what a "winner" is, either.
