Google “best American zoos” and you don’t find North Carolina even in the mix.
The tigers at least will probably will end up at a wildlife refuge for captive animals accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, where they can be mentally and physically stimulated instead of beaten into submission for refusing to get off a pedestal. There are just too many steps being taken by cities and states across the country to protect wild animals from abuse and suffering at the circus for the industry to continue under current practices.

What is that?
Is it like Car and Driver or that Chevy commercial that shows all of the awards they have won?
I agree with you. We should learn from these animals.
I have been to many Zoos. NC is spectacular.
They actually have a domain that requires a bus. Twice a day before noon.
The San Diego Zoo is well known for it’s sea life. Ask them about the NC Zoo before you attack me.
Go to the source. It’s early and you have the means.

There is a Tiger sanctuary north of Charlotte near Kannapolis.
I have not been there yet.

At the 2:00 mark Laura Ingle reports “All those animals have been placed, but the acrobats and circus performers are out of work ...” Fake news? “We report, you decide.”
BTW, I am very thankful for my long association with
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus/Feld Entertainment over the years. In the 70s I audited Clown College with Hall of Fame Clown “Papa” Lou Jacobs, not only my mentor, but Jimmy Stewart’s tutor for his role in “The Greatest Show On Earth”. Over the years I was often granted exemptions to perform with union musicians at the circus. P.T. Barnum is rolling in his grave.
It’s been awhile since I have talked to you.
Major spinner for the Canteen. A Founder if you will.
The North Carolina Zoo is not easy to reach but the habitats are most impressive. I encourage anyone traveling on 40 to take a side trip.
I didn’t say it was bad. I’m sure it’s great. But saying it’s the best zoo in the country might call for a little backup. Best zoo lists consistently include San Diego, Cincinnati, and St. Louis but I’ve never even heard of one in North Carolina.
I have come to see circuses and zoos as prisons housing those who have committed no crime.
They are immoral.
Zoos have come a long way, though, from sterile, tiny concrete and metal boxes to more natural acres-large enclosures. I remember the incessant, rhythmic pacing of animals across the breadth of their cages in the former situation - that even had me upset as a small child, it was so apparently inhumane.
You can only do so much with the circus environment.
