Does it make sense to renovate an aging race track, on a smaller than ideal geographic footprint, in a bad neighborhood?........

.........no but Maryland politicians are so corrupt that the taxpayers will probably find themselves on the hook for renovations to Pimlico/a new Pimlico. It has fewer than ten race days a year and is in a very bad area.

I wonder if they would say that a renovated Pimlico could help economic development in the adjacent bad area?? I haven’t been there in decades, but from what I’ve heard, it’s as bad as I remember it.

And, while “gentrification” can happen, it’s a long drawn out process; bad neighborhoods don’t turn around quickly.

I know nothing of the economics of horse racing, but, I would fear they would throw good money after bad, if they commit to a huge renovation project there.
