When you have no husband/father in the home who is a Man, you have no set limits for male children and to a smaller extent, female children.
In the home where I grew up, there were hand guns and long guns “put away’ but not so I could not have been industrious and get at them. But I did not. My father taught me the limits on any number of things.
It did not make me “fascinated” with the forbidden however, didn’t own a personal handgun until I was past 55.
I carry a large walking stick when I walk for exercise. I explain I am too old to run from dogs. Same thing with a hand gun.
My father was a NRA instructor and formed a high school rifle team. He and a couple of fathers would take the team on weekend camping trips coupled with some serious range work with the rifles. My first and only snipe hunt. nuf said.
