LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies are being criticized for the way they treated an elderly woman who refused to leave a reserved seating area in a train station in downtown Los Angeles.
CBS Los Angeles reports sheriff's deputies forcibly removed the 76-year-old woman from her seat in Union Station. Her friend, who only wishes to be identified as Tina, captured the disturbing incident on video.
In the clip, the woman is heard repeatedly saying, "You are hurting me," as two sheriff's deputies place her in handcuffs.

Leos do not have to have/use intelligence.
The cops are not helping themselves when they do these things. The public has a long memory when it comes to abuse of power by police.
Why does a train station have/need a reserved seating section? Reserved for who?
Passengers who paid for tickets I guess.
Apparently it’s not reserved for elderly women with a cane.
She’s no Rosa Parks...
Honestly, they should name those two morons and they should never work in law enforcement again. I bet they feel not an a moment’s remorse for treating an old lady that way.
Cops today are all about force and intimidation no matter the situation.
That SOB could have broken her neck. Don’t anyone dare claim this was a reasonable use of force. Effing jerks can’t understand she needed her cane to get up? My God this stuff torques me. I hope those damned leos are tossed good and hard.
Those two morons are going to be 76 one day with a cane or a walker more than likely. Things like this has a way of coming back to you.
Dont anyone dare claim this was a reasonable use of force. Effing jerks cant understand she needed her cane to get up?

If that 76 yo woman would have been able to get hold of her can she may have used it to throttle the police.
Then they would have just shot her and claimed they were just trying to make sure they got home that night.
Goes right along with putting a 6 yo in cuffs because they were ‘acting up’ in school....
Also the ‘story’ goes on to say she was removed from HER seat...
Story doesn’t jive now does it.??
(I seriously don’t think /s/ is entirely necessary)
she sounds innocent of any serious criminal offense
but either way
there is no excuse for police or deputies to strong-arm a citizen like this who poses to danger to them or others
and especially not an obviously elderly, frail lady
disciplinary action may, one hopes, effectively teach some respect for individual citizen rights and...basic courtesy
What a silly thing to happen Il be across the street having a beef dip samich
There’s first class seating and coach seating. When you pay for a first class ticket there’s a separate area for them. I traveled AMTRAK Empire Builder from Seattle to Chicago and paid for a roomette which is first class in that meals are provided and you have your own room. At Chicago there’s a room set aside for those passengers traveling first class. Just saying that maybe the lady got confused and entered the wrong room; however it’s a very large room (Chicago) and there’s no set seats, it’s like a large living room. Anyway, just saying. The cops were totally out of line the way they handled the situation. Thugs come to mind.
“Having a horrible hip myself (hip replacement next Friday) I can attest to the fact that one can really need a cane to get out of a seat. “
I had one and what they can do nowadays is a miracle. It took me a year to get over it though. You’ll feel much better. The only thing I regret is that I can’t run distance anymore.
After I got mine they came out with a new Gold/Titanium joint! Dammit!
What the HELL has happened to Freepers!! She DIDN”T PAY for the seat she REFUSED to give up!!! You people are willing to believe ANYONE but the police!! SHE DIDNLT PAY!!! SHE DIDN’T ASK EITHER....SHE REFUSED!!!
Yup...this upcoming one will be my second.and you're right,"before and after" are like night and day.The surgeon says he's gonna use a different approach,,,a newer one.Less pain, quicker recovery he says. He's a senior surgeon at a large, well known hospital so I have full confidence.
After I got mine they came out with a new Gold/Titanium joint! Dammit!
After my first one I contacted the hospital's billing department for a detailed accounting of the bill they sent to the insurance company. They charged them $17,000 just for *the hip itself*...just the piece of metal.
Yikes!
Ann she was not on the train, she was just in the station. She was not trying to get a free ride. She had sat there before and no one had said anything to her about doing it. I figure she was just old and resting her bones from time to time and would move when she was well enough.
The article says ‘she asked for her cane so she could stand up’ and they refused to give it to her. It certainly does not say she refused to give up her seat. Did you read it?
