I’ve had that happen! Starbucks needs to check in with the quality control people who make the lids!
the woman who sued mcdonalds over same issue suffered really bad burns- needed skin grafts- the3 whole nine yards if i remember right- supposedly coffee shops had to reduce hte temps of the coffeee after that lawsuit- apparently they haven’t done so?
I make my own coffee, but still, how do these people spill the coffee on themselves, in the car? I personally drink something hot at the table, with a lid on.
Make it so there is only a tiny opening in the top of the cup, that way, the lid cannot pop off.
If you buy coffee at a drive through...IMHO you take on some of the responsibility. I’ve spilled all sorts of stuff on myself in a car, that I normally wouldn’t sitting at a table.
My full and saturated paper Starbucks cup with lid collapsed on me while I was driving 3 years ago. No accident or burns, but it could have happened easily. Since then, I have learned that Waffle House has much better black coffee, their cups don’t collapse on me and I never have to wait behind someone who can’t decide if they want cinnamon or brown sugar in their crafted cup of crap.
I got a mustard stain on my nice T-shirt from my 1/4 pound big bite!
I’m suing 7-11 for my misspent youth!
Coffee is hot....who knew?
Reduce brew temps to below 120 degrees for all “hot” beverages served by restaurants.
Let them complain about cold coffee. These idiots have it coming to them.
I’ve seen guys injured in foundry explosions get far less compensation and come back to work months later. Horrible disfiguring burns.
Stupid and frivolous decision, which is not unusual in tort cases. If you spill hot coffee on yourself, and it turns out to be hot, that is your fault. I always check the lid (on those rare occasions when I get drinks away from home), and it is my responsibility not to do stupid stuff.
