Reduce brew temps to below 120 degrees for all “hot” beverages served by restaurants.
Let them complain about cold coffee. These idiots have it coming to them.
The link here recommends between 195 and 205 degrees. http://www.ncausa.org/About-Coffee/How-to-Brew-Coffee
My Keurig is set to brew at 195.
I’ve seen guys injured in foundry explosions get far less compensation and come back to work months later. Horrible disfiguring burns.
Stupid and frivolous decision, which is not unusual in tort cases. If you spill hot coffee on yourself, and it turns out to be hot, that is your fault. I always check the lid (on those rare occasions when I get drinks away from home), and it is my responsibility not to do stupid stuff.
That link you sent also specifies to let it cool below 140 degrees before drinking. Brewing hot is one thing, but serving at those temperatures is a recipe for disaster.
I think Waffle House costs less, but since Starbucks doesn't have small, medium and large cup sizes, who knows for sure...
