It's a camel's nose
Marcella is the Roman boyhood friend of Jewish Judah Ben Hur and he has returned to Judea as the incoming centurian.
(Everything following is very abridged and synopsised)
In conversation with the outgoing centurian, Marcella is told these Jews have the damnable idea about one God (not the many Roman ones), and informs Marcella they are a docile enough people but how do you fight that idea (of one God)?
the movie continues and a circumstance brings Marcella back to the (yet removed) outgoing centurian and states,
(almost a quote)
"You once asked me how do you fight an idea ... I will show you ... with another idea"
President Trump has shown us we can be very effective if we will only follow the laws that we've already been given which were at the time, just ideas, never before put on paper and manifested as a nation.
I've read all the explanations for a Convention of States and they are pretty clear ... it will not be a law making or legislating body, but an idea transfer.
THAT, to me is the camel's nose in the tent.
The best illustration I can give as to the (potential) danger of any new idea (as a guy) is;
I remember the first picture I ever saw of a naked woman ... I think I was 11 or 12 ... and not only did I not forget it, I was driven from that moment on to seek out a woman for my life
I'm now 69
Forget the woman, illustration ...
But what if someone comes up with an idea that sounds SO good and SEEMS so perfect ... ?
That's my monthly allotment of one rant per.
Conversation and arguement is welcome.
My take on vanities in news. Belongs in chat. Your meanderings aren’t “news.”
You mean “Messala,” not “Marcella.”
Other than that, I cannot understand what you are saying. Do you believe a convention of states would be a positive opportunity, or the beginning of disaster?
beginning of disaster
Thank you for clarifying.
IIRC .. the “news” part was attached to another “subject”
But I AM prone to thinking other folks know what I am thinking/saying without a lot of descriptors.
That’s what I thought.
That was my first assumption, but then it got rather scrambled. One can’t assume that people mean the same thing by “camel’s nose.”
The convention will be called with limits on the subjects discussed. Since only six states are controlled by demos it will be a repub show.
There are those camel beauty contests, after all.
Well?
That's not exactly comforting when you consider McCain, Romney, Rubio, Cruz, et al are Republicans too.
LOL, true! And there are those people who use clichéd metaphors without the slightest notion of what they connote.
Not necessarily a good thing, imo
I’ll read them later, but it would seem to me they are all ideas that are already out there and even some bills have been proposed.
>>The convention will be called with limits on the subjects discussed. Since only six states are controlled by demos it will be a repub show.
As we have learned over the past 18 months, when many (most??) GOP politicians get a chance to screw over the people who elected them, they will take it. The “repub show” could turn into a UniParty show.
I would only trust them with explosive collars on their necks and a phone app where GOP voters can log in and vote to set the device off, so when they have pissed off a certain percentage of us, we get to elect a new politician who might better understand his duty to us and not to the banks, corporations, and lobbyists—and their friends across the aisle.
Cool; I think you'll be mildly surprised and pleased with at least some of them.
