The story totally misses the point that commercial tomatoes are picked and shipped green, so they aren't damaged by handling (like, by moving them in large trailers stacked forty and fifty deep). They are then turned red chemically just before they are sold.

Ya think that might be a factor, too?

Bananas are the same way, picked green so they never develop their sugars.
