A judge on Tuesday erased former NFL star Aaron Hernandezs conviction in a 2013 murder because Hernandez died before his appeal was heard.
Hernandez, who had been a standout tight end for the New England Patriots before his arrest, hanged himself in his jail cell on April 19. He was serving a life sentence in the killing of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd, and his suicide came just five days after he was acquitted in a different double slaying in 2012.

Can they make the jury disgorge the money they received?
Guess civil suit time by Odins family.
Aaron Hernandez’s murder conviction erased

Whew! I’m sure that’s a load off Aarons minds. What a relief, yeah?
Hernandez is still dead, right?
If he was convicted, but offed himself before his appeal was heard, would’nt his conviction stand?
About as valuable as Treyvon’s degree in Astronautics?
That ought to make Hernandez feel better..... Oh wait.
Other way around. That’s what I read somewhere. That’s why he offed himself.
Just a technicality because he was appealing his case again, and he killed himself for being a homo before the case got heard.
Will Florida Memorial University now present his family with his posthumous bachelor of science degree in aeronautical science, with a concentration in flight education?
The judge should have ruled that Hernandez transferred his case to a Higher Court.
Not unusual. Appeals weren’t finished
I saw another article saying he left a message in the suicide note indicating that he was gaming the system and that he knew his heirs would be getting a lot of money.
Alas no
American legal stupidity continues apace.
About as valuable as Treyvons degree in Astronautics?
More, with the added concentration in flight education.
Appeal was in process. So he was probably ‘innocent’ till proven guilty, till appeal was over.
If that is all you have to do to beat a murder rap, everyone will be doing it.
Mechanical Engineering, with concentration in statics would be more appropriate.
