I wonder if the strengthening of Trump’s base may be a macrocosm of microcosms like me: a Reagan conservative who supported Trump enthusiastically from the beginning - but not because I thought he was a Reagan conservative, but because he was fearless, a winner, good at making the media look foolish, and he was not Hillary Clinton.

Then, after watching him establish a strong lead in the primaries, issue some policy position papers and hearing him say all the right things in his campaign rallies, I began to think - he’s really not so “unconservative”. Hmmm.

By the time the election came around it became clear to me that this man had all the right enemies. My God, he might be the real thing.

And every day since the election he proves it again and again - the people he appoints, the battles he picks, the political risks he takes - Donald Trump is as good a champion as this conservative has ever had and MUCH better than I expected him to be. And I expected a lot.

Maybe there are others like me, who aren’t measuring Trump by the media’s bogus 100 days yardstick but instead are simply stunned by his steadfast determination against the left.

He must have conservative principles, right? Otherwise, how could he stay focused on the right things? Otherwise, why would he bother going back to PA, Michigan, Wisconsin and hold thank you rallies? Why would he bother being accountable to the voters and keeping obscure campaign promises that are extremely important - but only to conservatives?

What happened to the usual Republican “rush to center” after he won the primary? He totally skipped that phase.

I’m way beyond happy with my vote, and from these polls, it seems I’m not alone.

He is more of a conservative than most in DC with R’s after their name. An enigma who rolls with the punches and if circumstances change, ready to forge ahead on a different path; ANYTHING, to get it done! He has disappointed once or twice; overall - I’m pleased and happy, especially with the fact he sees what WTP see in DC. The waste, red tape, and cronyism.

Some people forget that Trump plays the long game. It doesn’t work to judge him on single actions. He always has a larger strategy in mind and works on multiple levels at once.
