BREAKING: HelioPower files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy
pv magazine USA ^ | 4/28/17 | Frank Andorka

Posted on 04/28/2017 10:22:22 AM PDT by WombatKing

The filing, signed by HelioPower President Maurice Russo, says that despite borrowing nearly $3 million from its parent company Sierra Nevada Solar (SNS) over a period of years, its current revenues are not enough to keep up with its debt obligations. In fact, HelioPower has borrowed $182,218 from SNS so far in 2017 just to meet its payroll obligations.

This is becoming a habit for solar companies. I don't know why the libs keep trying to tell me it's successful.

I am all for alternative energy but like earth day in the 70s nothing changed.

I was thinking about the pollution caused by electric cars, we know to build them, I have been told, make more pollution than regular cars.

And

Wudda ya gonna do with the expired batteries? How about when that battery dies, it costs 5000 dollars to replace - and many are not just let the car sit....more pollution.

Oh facts those pesky things!

Good post. The free market is the best arbiter of succuss ever created. If the value provided by a thing is worth what it costs, then it may succeed.

If they didn’t have to buy all that NG to keep the turbines spinning maybe it could have been a going concern.

How much of a kickback did that moron Boobamba got from tax-funding these solar companies?

CIRCA 9/16/15 Obama pledges $120M toward solar power, clean energy / By Timothy Cama, thehill.com

The Obama administration announced Wednesday morning a series of efforts worth more than $120 million aimed at boosting solar and other clean energy sources. The initiatives focus on the Department of Energy, where the bulk of the funding will go to programs to develop solar power technology and get it into homes, businesses and other facilities.

“President Obama and Vice President Biden are committed to promoting smart, simple, low-cost technologies to help America transition to cleaner and more distributed energy sources, help households save on their energy bills, and to address climate change,” the White House said in a fact sheet outlining the efforts. “All told, this funding will drive the development of affordable clean energy throughout the country,” it said.

The actions aim to help out solar power in 24 states, officials said. The announcements come the same day Biden, currently considering a bid for president, is scheduled to speak at a major solar industry conference in California and at a climate change summit with U.S. and Chinese leaders later in the afternoon.

Solar power has been a top priority and talking point for the Obama administration’s energy and environmental policy priorities as officials push for an increase in low- or zero-carbon electricity sources. The industry has expanded greatly under Obama. The White House says approximately 734,000 homes have solar panels, up from 66,000 homes when Obama took office.

But solar still only represents a small sliver of the country’s power generation. Solar produced 0.4 percent of the United States’s electricity last year.

In the early days of car manufacturing there were 4000 car companies in the U.S. You can’t necessarily tell that much about the future of a technology from the number of companies dropping out.
