FULL TITLE: Is this the most insulting pregnancy advice EVER? Expectant woman told she shouldn't attend a work event with a baby bump - because it would make her look unprofessional
A woman was left seething after a colleague told her it would be 'unprofessional' to go to a work function with a baby bump.
The expectant mother, who is 25 weeks (just over six months) along, was left stunned after it was suggested she should avoid the 'prestigious' event during a chat by the office photocopier.
She shared her ordeal on Mumsnet, and before long dozens of other women had rushed to her defence, with many sharing their own tales of insulting pregnancy comments which are sure to leave mums-to-be seething.
Commenting on her awkward office encounter, the irked mother-to-be, known only as Crapuccino, chuckled at the prospect of colleagues being offended by the evidence she had been having 'real coitus with a man'.

Well, it would be ‘unprofessional’ if she worked for Planned Parenthood..................
Whoever told her that is a moron.
I’m assuming the offender in this scenario has never been pregnant.
Only someone who has never had a baby could say something so stupid with a straight face.
I will say that today’s “fashion” of wearing regular tops instead of maternity attire, making pregnancy undignified and the equivalent to a 45 year old male with a beer gut, DOES look unprofessional.
Who would say such a thing...?
Is it too early to call B.S. on this?
I didn’t think so.
Whatever, people can be catty to each other.
I would go to the event and pad out my bump to be even larger!
I agree. Some feigned story only for the purpose of soliciting hateful reactions.
How insensitive of you!!
She described it as "an ordeal" for her to hear that suggestion. It was so aggregious and offensive that she needed to reach out for support to mumsnet!! That alone tells you how traumatic it was. (Do I really need the sarcasm tag?)
Eeek! Sex causes babies.
Who on earth started this “baby bump” descriptive?
It’s stupid.
.
When did “baby bump” enter the vocabulary?
It had to be a celebrity thing. The gossip mags at the checkout have used that description for a long time.
No, she aint knocked up,, she just fat ..
Horsefeathers. That's what happens when you hire young women. They get married to young men. Then they get pregnant. WTH do these idiots expect?
“Whoever told her that is a moron.”
“Who would say such a thing...?”

Another WOMAN. Why you ask? She’s upset she can’t have a baby too! Maybe she waited too late and she’s too old or just feels “it’s not the right time” but I’m willing to bet money it’s a woman. A man would not care.
Only time it would be a problem and a man would care is if the baby could be harmed and/or a lawsuit could occur as a result of the baby/momma being harmed on a job. (such as a construction site)
Do I believe this story? Sure do! My own daughter once worked for a well known agency that provides Cruises to the Caribbean. When she became pregnant, she was informed that if she didn’t terminate her baby, that she’d be terminated from her job.
She dumped the job and kept the baby.
It’s actually sex abuse and discrimination to use that kind of force or insult.
Workplaces should be affirming of parenthood from conception forward.
