The 1984 remake of the 1927 German film Metropolis included the song "Here She Comes," sung by Bonnie Tyler. The video for this music video comes from the TV show Alias. Please be warned, if you watch at work, that there are 4 underwear scenes.

I loved both versions of Metropolis but fell especially for this song in the rock version. It took a while to find a show that was as strong as the music. The stunts HAVE to be simulated. She's pulled by a wire off a motorcycle to an aircraft, and allows herself (with parachute) to be pulled out of an aircraft in flight.

Girgio Moroder’s Metropolis was a great soundtrack.
The move was “meh” but amazing for the time.
The book is actually amazingly bad.

Didn’t realize it was based on a book. Good recommendation. I’ll save my Amazon purchases for something else. Agree on the soundtrack, but I did enjoy the movie, too.

Offtrack, I’ve noticed several uses of “meh” on FreeRepublic and I was wondering if anyone knows the origins of “fegs”? It’s used in a poem from 1787 by Henry Livingston and I’m assuming it means “shrug,” which sounds similar to “meh”.

Believe me dear brother tho women may be
Compared to us, of inferiour degree
Yet still they are useful I vow with a fegs
When our shirts are in tatters & jackets in rags.

Henry was actually big into humor and was quite the feminist for his time. Also a futurist. He wrote about traveling to the moon, societies on various planets and the dinosaurs that once roamed the Hudson Valley in New York.

The book is by Thea von Harbou, and to call the prose “florid” is an understatement.

The Kindle cost isn’t the issue. It’s the time in your life you don’t get back. I’m working my way through a 42’ long hallway of books on both sides, turning the books on their sides as I read them again and piling up the ones to give away when I can’t make it to the end.

Figs for fegs doesn’t make sense in Henry’s context. I’m constantly surprised at his use of what I would consider a “modern” word, but one that was actually in normal use in the 18th century. Though he WAS proud of his Scottish origins. I’ve been working with researchers at Vassar and Auckland for 17 years to prove he wrote Night Before Christmas.
