When this sort of story goes national, you might as well give up or go for a complete makeover for both of you. And you need a lot of money to survive.

For a guy that was pretty stable prior to this, managing a life on the run had to be extremely difficult. Any time he tried to access his bank account or credit card, he would be tracked. He could only last as long as the cash held out. And as for getting a paying job, hard to do without ID, or skills that extend beyond teaching math.

Anyway, I always thought that the girl ran off with him, and who knows, she might have been an instigator for all we know. Legally, it's still kidnapping as she's underage. A school teacher should have known that nothing good would ever come of this, and it looks as though he will see many years of prison. By the time he gets out, his fifteen year old girlfriend will be in her forties or fifties. Can't imagine she'll be waiting for him.

I thought that they would head for Costa Rica. No extradition and very few questions asked.

It’s cheap, but not free.
