Under the properties of quantum theory, the pair of photons should remain entangled over the 4,600-mile (7,400-kilometer) distance from Vienna to Beijing. The Quantum Science Satellite will try to prove it.

“According to quantum mechanics, there is no limit,” Zeilinger said. “But there are people who have the idea that the effect of the phenomenon of coherence between two different places degrades over large distances, which I don’t believe, but it’s interesting to test whether quantum communication survives any distance, as predicted by the theory.”

Distance is a function of time to arrival. In an exponential rate of acceleration that is likely included in something like a black Hole, I’d say anything is possible.

God requires infinity to make everything possible.

It should be framed and given to CNN’s genius,Don Lemon.

“all the information crossing a black hole’s event horizon gets lost forever”

So THAT’S where Hillary’s servers are. She must be breaking a sweat over this telescope.

[[You can never see a black hole ...]]

You obviously have not met my ex sister in law who is the black hole of emotional need and who will drain the life out of any nearby lifeform

Lookup up synthetic aperture for an explanation of jow radiars/radio telescopes can be configured to provide higher resolutions.

As a casual reader of books about Einstein and quantum theory, I didn’t fully recognize the article’s statements about Einstein vs quantum theories regarding info lost in a black hole. I don’t think quantum says info is never lost, am I wrong?

It doesn't matter. Most distant celestial images are faked with false colors to represent what scientists think the pictures should look like. Black holes would be represented in the same fashion. Even what we see with our own eyes is an illusion, and is only a representation presented to us by our brain interpolating the wavelengths that our eyes are able to collect. That's why telescopes scanning deep space collect wavelengths undetectable by our eyes, which is then altered to something that scientists think represents a true image.

Quantum mechanics was invented to create endless possibilities for research grants that never require more evidence that cannot be generated by a fat joint passed around the lab over a pizza.

Whoooh dude! That like trancended actual physics dude! Man, my mind is blown, roll another...

We do not have ant evidence but we have a lot of theories so give us lots of money so we can prove them. LOL on the way to the bank.

The idea that a earth bound scientist can claim they know what is going on hundreds of lights years away is laughable.

Earth-sized telescope?

With a mirror 8,000 miles in diameter?

Most that would intentionally click on this article are familiar with “FLATLAND”.

A good starting point before zooming off into three or more dimensions.
A fun read. And FREE.

NB: Warning, sexists viewpoints!
http://www.geom.uiuc.edu/~banchoff/Flatland/

Our Women are Straight Lines.

Our Soldiers and Lowest Class of Workmen are Triangles with two equal sides, each about eleven inches long, and a base or third side so short (often not exceeding half an inch) that they form at their vertices a very sharp and formidable angle. Indeed when their bases are of the most degraded type (not more than the eighth part of an inch in size), they can hardly be distinguished from Straight lines or Women; so extremely pointed are their vertices. With us, as with you, these Triangles are distinguished from others by being called Isosceles; and by this name I shall refer to them in the following pages.

Our Middle Class consists of Equilateral or Equal-Sided Triangles.

Our Professional Men and Gentlemen are Squares (to which class I myself belong) and Five-Sided Figures or Pentagons.

Next above these come the Nobility, of whom there are several degrees, beginning at Six-Sided Figures...

And worse...

I did not. You misunderstand, go back and read what I wrote. I said it doesn't matter. Scientists are in agreement that what goes in a black hole stays there (unless there is some future big bang we know nothing about). It's the effects surrounding the event horizon that they study. Lots of energy escapes the area surrounding the event horizon, due to the effects of the black hole.
