it causes too much confusion and sleep deprivation.

It's a small inconvenience that only happens two days a year, but benefits us greatly by giving us more daylight when we really need it.

I personally think daylight savings is one of the smartest inventions since sliced bread.

If you want more daylight "when you really need it," just move to the western edge of a time zone. Bangor, Maine and Fort Wayne, Indiana are both in the Eastern Time Zone, but today the sun will set 49 minutes later in Fort Wayne than in Bangor.

I suspect this is really one of the big reasons why we have DST at all. Historically, many of the biggest cities in the U.S. were in the eastern parts of their respective time zones (Boston, NYC and Philadalphia in Eastern Time, Chicago and St. Louis in Central Time, etc.), so DST worked in their favor to get "extra" daylight hours in the evening. I believe there's actually a proposal under consideration in Massachusetts and/or Maine to accomplish the same thing by ditching Daylight Saving Time and instead switching from Eastern Time to Atlantic Time.

The daylight is not affected by our time clocks - Geez WF, IMHO you are one of the smartest FReepers and I am SHOCKED that you made that comment.

XOXOXO
