When hasn’t there been a Russian sub off our coast?

This shouldn’t be news to anyone over 40. There have ALWAYS been enemy subs off both coasts.

Since the Russians developed their Typhoon-class boats with their long-range SLBM’s the usual deployment has been to keep them close to home or arctic waters where they could be protected or get lost under the ice. It was basically an admission that there was always a NATO fast attack tailing them.

They’re really working one particular area over. About a 100 miles west of San Diego. From another article about this here are the following aircraft involved-

“Navy EP-3E Aries II, which is used for electronic surveillance, a Navy P-3C Orion, which is used for submarine spotting, and a Boeing P-8 Poseidon used for anti-submarine warfare.”

We were stationed at MCAS Cherry Pointe in the 70’s, and were told not to talk about exercises and things on the phone. They have always listened.
