A university lecturer has been jailed after buying a cocktail of drugs over the "dark web" that led to the death of his friend.

Dr Harry Purser purchased a range of illegal substances including cocaine, ketamine and two brands of psycho-active drugs on the internet using bitcoins.

The Cambridge graduate then took the drugs and drink with Patrick Marran, old school friend, at his flat. But when Purser woke late the next morning, he found his friend dead in bed and dialled 999.

The Nottingham Trent University psychology lecturer is now starting a six-month jail term after a judge told him he had been "dicing with death".

The dumbass probably mixed a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of something the company printed clearly “DO NOT MIX WITH ALCOHOL” on the pill bottle.

The friend is a Darwin Award winner and the professor probably came pretty damn close to becoming one himself.

You mean he didn’t just find his “friend” dead in bed? He woke up next to a corpse?

Terence McKenna has dozens of podcasts on the web about how dangerous Ketamine is.

Bad, bad stuff....

One of the odd features of this ‘recreational’ drug (I hate to even call it that) is short-term memory loss. If a guy is on this for regular usage, say five or six times a month...it’s doubtful that he remembers much about his normal life or his profession. This was one of those wonder-drugs that came out in the 1960s and after a couple of years....they dumped it real fast.

If a guy was going to use it....you really need a monitor or person watching you who doesn’t take the drug. In the case of these two idiots....they both probably took a substantial amount.

On the list of the ten worst drugs to get hooked on....I’d put it near the top.

He should consider himself lucky. I would have given him 20 years.

5-MeO-DMT is quite possibly the most powerful drug ever discovered.

I wonder if even this is available on the dark web?

Triple strength hot cocoa made with real Herheys powdered cocoa, whole milk and Splenda as sweetener is my fav drug :-)
Hits you in a few minutes...I make it so strong it’s actually a bit gritty from so much cocoa :-)

Try it, you will feel an effect. I make a huge mug of it..probably like the amount of cocoa in 20 Hershey bars.

As is often the case, it is a good drug when used correctly and not abused.

Ketamine, sold under the brand name Ketalar among others, is a medication mainly used for starting and maintaining anesthesia. It induces a trance-like state while providing pain relief, sedation, and memory loss. Other uses include for chronic pain and for sedation in intensive care. Heart function, breathing, and airway reflexes generally remain functional. Effects typically begin within five minutes when given by injection with the main effects lasting up to 25 minutes.

Common side effects include psychological reactions as the medication wears off. These reactions may include agitation, confusion, or hallucinations. Elevated blood pressure and muscle tremors are relatively common, while low blood pressure and a decrease in breathing are less so. Spasms of the larynx may rarely occur. Ketamine has been classified as an NMDA receptor antagonist; it also acts on opioid receptors and monoamine transporters among others.

Ketamine was discovered in 1962. It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the most effective and safe medicines needed in a health system. It is available as a generic medication. The wholesale cost in the developing world is between 0.08 and 0.32 USD per dose. Ketamine is also used as a recreational drug.

Cyberghost is a nice VPN gateway for privacy while surfing. From there you can delve into various hidden areas - as a retired IT and cyber guy, I grew tired of that side of the internet and got on with retirement!

What is Ketamine?

I use Ketoconozole for the fungus on my toe. Related?

It does not get me high AT ALL, not even my toe.

Jailing him, Judge Timothy Spencer QC told him: "This is truly a tragic case but it is a cautionary tale of why we regulate drugs in this country.

Opposite - the UK, like the USA, bans drugs (except for the deadly addictive drug alcohol) and thus drives them into the black market and away from the possibility of effective regulation.
