She was crocheting a blanket in her sunroom under where that semi trailer landed.
I’m sooo sorry. :( Lived through that. Almost hit our house. Literally jumped over it. Terrifying.
I will say.....it’s not as warm in our area as in ‘74. It was TROPICAL back then.....so maybe a good sign.
Oh my gosh...I am so sorry for your loss.
I lived in sight of Ireland Army Hospital at Fort Knox during that tornado outbreak. I remember a lot of Medevac choppers coming from and going to Brandenburg KY, which had big loss of life, along with Xenia OH. Wife’s parents both worked at the hospital in Elizabethtown KY, about 15 miles away, and they worked a few days straight for the Brandenburg casualties as well, both hospitals were immediately overloaded with trauma cases.
Wow—so sorry for your loss.
I grew up in SW Indiana but had not heard of this outbreak till now. I remember tornadoes in those years, but this particular run appears to have jumped from Illinois right over my area - Greene/Daviess counties. I had heard about Xenia, Ohio which was from the same series, just not all of the others being tied together before.
Sorry for your loss.
