Nebraska’s is completely wrong. I get the break-action shotgun as a tribute to bird hunting.

We need something single-barrel’d to pay homage to the only remaining single-bodied legislature in all 50 states, the Nebraska Uni-cameral, affectionately referred to as the Nebraska Bad Idea Factory. Further, the barrel should be modified to be plugged with something called the “Ernie Chambers modification”, which prevents even common sense loads from being discharged.

Seems about right. And Iowa’s should be the 12-gauge shotgun, used for birds and for deer, as well as predators. The use of rifles beyond the .22 is pretty restricted in Iowa.

Do you think my post #19 might cover the Ernie Chambers mod? Better yet, a double-barreled version, as sometimes one shot (term) is not enough...

BTW I’m originally from Nebraska and also ridiculed the Unicameral until living in other states to see that bicameral legislatures are even worse, get even less accomplished, and cost much more than twice as much. I’d take the unicameral any day.

In the spirit of the NFA, the state firearm for Illinois MUST be the Chicago typewriter or the Chicago piano - aka the tommy gun.

I confess - I am not opening the link because I suspect it is one of those clickbait formats where you have to give 50 clicks to see 50 sentences.

The decrepit break-open, single barrel shotgun - often with a crack in the stock (or fore end) - seemed to be the unofficial State Gun of Iowa when I was a kid, but some flavor of worn Mossberg pump gun appears to have overtaken it in the last 50 years.

California

I was thinking that once the Demoncrats finally pass their last gun control bill though the California legislature, this would be the only gun permitted in California, and even it would require a waiting period and licensing because it might scare the snowflakes:

If California weren’t so full of communists, we could adopt the AR-15 as our state gun. Though it’s hard to believe now, the original ArmaLite AR-15 was manufactured in Hollywood, CA.

Somehow I always assumed the Nevada state gun should be a derringer of the type carried by gamblers (and bordello piano players).

Texas should be either Winchester 1873 or Colt Single Action Army.

But, I would have to have a write in vote for a BAR.
